How big are the garages?
Generally the standard size of a garage is approximately 16' x 8' x 6'6” clearance. However, there are larger garages with wider doors and higher height clearances.
How do I select a garage?
Once you have found a garage or parking bay located where you are interested in, West Of Haven recommend that you carry out an on site external viewing of the property to get a feel for the location and surroundings. On occasions you will find that some sites have security gates and access may therefore be restricted. If you call an advisor, they will be able to guide you on this. Internal viewings of the garages are not always possible, However, on occasions this can be facilitated. Once garages have been vacated, they are checked for any defects. Roofs, gutters and doors are checked and serviced ready for the next client.
What is the minimum period I can rent a garage or parking bay for?
Six months for a garage. Three months for a parking bay. Either party giving to the other not less than one months' prior written notice provided always that any such notice must expire on the last day of a calendar month.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes, the security deposit required is three times the monthly rental and is refundable within 30 days of the termination of the rental agreement subject to all clauses being adhered to. Left clean and tidy with all original locks in place and keys in returned and the correct notice to vacate given.
What does my first payment consist of?
The balance of the quarter rent due pro-rata from the start date to the end of the first quarter payment date.
How is the quarterly rent paid?
It is payable quarterly in advance on the following quarter dates, being 1st January, 1st April, 1st July & 1st October. Initial payment is accepted by bank transfer, for the first payment and security deposit. Thereafter, standing order payments are required on the quarter payment dates above.
How much Notice do I have to give to give up the lock-up garage?

Who is responsible for maintenance of the garage?
West Of Haven manages all the garages and parking bays. A maintenance team check the garage on vacation of the last tenant, prior to being re-let out. However, West Of Haven would require that you take responsibility for ensuring the door mechanisms and locks are kept oiled and that any problems are reported before they deteriorate.
Who insures my goods?
West Of Haven does not accept any responsibility for motor vehicles/goods stored in the garages, nor the use of any access/egress and we therefore suggest that if insurance is required you contact your own insurers.
Do I have to pay rates on my lock-up garage?
Rates are no longer applicable on lock-up garages.
Is there VAT to pay?
No VAT to pay.
